South Toe River Fly Fishing

Mitchell which is the tallest mountain in Eastern America. With that being said the South Toe river drainage always runs cold and clear. This creates some of the most picturesque streams in the country. This mountain country is covered in rhododendron that is cut out from the miles of streams running through it. Rock hopping and “bow and arrow” casting is a skill that one will master fishing these waters. Traditional dry/dropper fly fishing is the standard in these streams, this is also the perfect place to utilize Tenkara fly fishing which is being seen more and more in these streams. Fishing in the South Toe River drainage gives you the opportunity to catch wild brown, rainbow and the elusive brook trout all in one trip. Better yet there are several miles of hiking trails, so backcountry camping and fly fishing go hand in hand.
